Our Vision

"Together Being Changed by God to Love and Serve the World"

We believe God is leading us to be a more holistic, transformational, communal, and missional faith community in and for the greater Burlington area. This speaks to both the type of people, and the type of church, that we are, and are becoming.

“Together”
The phrase “one another” appears across the Scriptures reminding us that God is intimately concerned with relationships- our love, our attitudes, words, and actions toward other people.  We learn together. We weep together. We are real and open and honest together. We share, heal, and grow together. We are joyful together. We do life together. We struggle well with life together.

“Being changed by God”
Without compromising our passion to see the church accept people where they are, we recognize that God has deeper desires to change us into the men and women He created us to be. Change is by nature directional, so being a transformational church means that we concern ourselves with the spiritual trajectory each person is taking right now – headed toward or away from God.

“Being changed” understands that we are in a lifelong process – always learning, always growing, always changing and none of us have yet arrived. From the person who has been a follower of Jesus for 30 years to the person who is not sure what he or she believes about Him, we exist to introduce and reintroduce people to God and his church so that we might all be changed.

“To love and serve the world”

God has always intended his people gathered to be his people on mission. The Church’s purpose is to be the hands and feet Jesus, bring healing to the brokenness of a world disconnected from God. We understand that as the Church, we exist for the very purpose of giving ourselves away for the good of the community.

3. Truth and Grace – the foundations of the Christian message as revealed in the Bible (John  1:14-17; John 14:6; 2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12-16)

4. Prayer and Faith – aligning our hearts, minds, and wills with God’s purposes and trusting  Him to accomplish them (Matthew 17:20-21; Luke 1:37; Acts 1:14; James 5:15).

5. Authentic Relationships – opening our hearts and our lives to God and one another so we  might be free (John 8:32 & 36; James 5:16; 1 John 1:8-10).

7. Leadership Development – developing men and women as leaders who faithfully promote  the Kingdom of God in their homes, communities, vocations, and churches (2 Timothy 2:2;  Matthew 11:12; Acts 18:1-4 & 18-28).

Our Denomination

As an organization, the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) has been worshiping and working together since the late 1800's. Dr. A.B. Simpson, the founder of the C&MA had a vision to train young men and women so that they could communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world. The Alliance is unique because it was not a spin-off from another denomination; rather, it is the alliance of people from several denominations for the sole purpose of reaching the world with the gospel. God has used the initial efforts of Dr. Simpson over the past 100 years to establish over 2500 churches in the United States and Canada. In addition, numerous other churches have been established overseas through the work of our 1200+ missionaries in over 500 countries. At the present time, the C&MA is one of the fastest growing denominations in the United States.

The plain and simple fact that Jesus Christ is the only answer that satisfies man's hunger for truth and hope of eternal life continues to be the message of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
