Approaching An Anniversary
It is hard to believe we are already approaching 1 year in our new space. Our first official service in the building was Sunday, October 2nd, 2016. As we look back over all that God has done with our space this past year we are truly humbled. We have hosted a carnival, a kids’ toy and clothing exchange, a community pancake breakfast, game nights, and the 30 Hour Famine. This is all in addition to our weekly youth ministry meetings, women’s bible studies, prayer meetings and of course, our Sunday services. We are truly thankful for all the hard work of our volunteers who poured their time, energy, and finances into our new building. We will not soon forget what a gift it is to have a space of our own and we hope to be able to continue to use this space in creative ways. However, we have always been conscious of the temptation to constantly invite people to “come and see” what God is doing rather than accept the challenge to “go and be” a part of the ways our community is already at work. How can we be a support to our neighbors? Are there needs within our community that we have the time, talent or resources to help with?
It is with this heart that were excited to partner with Westampton’s National Night Out on August 1st as well as to begin seeking community partnerships for our Serving Sundays. Serving Sundays happen whenever there is a 5th Sunday in the month. We take this opportunity to cancel our traditional worship service and schedule a SERVICE service. This is by no means a “week off” from church. In contrast, it is a beautiful picture of how we can BE the church in a hands on and practical way.
